Yesterday I arrived at the Lyra Music Festival, after a quick visit to hear Cosi Fan Tutte performed at Opera Saratoga on Friday night (which I really enjoyed by the way!) I am enjoying the change of scenery, and the calm that the faculty and staff are experiencing before the students arrive (which will be later this afternoon). We are situated at the Storm King School in Cornwall-on-Hudson, with some breathtaking views of the Hudson River. I have been super excited getting to work with some stellar colleagues- which includes Diyi Tang on piano, Gergana Haralampieva on violin, and Jisoo Ok on cello.
For those of you who will be in Beacon on Tuesday, July 2nd, the Lyra Music Festival Faculty will be giving a free concert at the Howland Music Center (Suggested donation for tickets is $20), here is the link for reserving tickets: https://secure.givelively.org/…/lyra-music-festival….
I will be performing Sakari Dixon Vanderveer’s El príncipe sombrío y los recuerdos de su niñez (The Somber Prince and the Memories of His Childhood). My colleagues will be performing: William Grant Still’s Suite for violin and piano;
Robert Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes Op.13; Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49; and I will be joining them on Johannes Brahms’s Piano Quartet No.1, Op.25.
