Laughter in the Concert Hall

This morning marked the first rehearsal that we have for Saturday’s performance with Parlando, the New York-based chamber ensemble I have been performing with for over four years. While most of our concerts have been based at Merkin Hall in New York City, this is the second summer where we have had a performance at the historic United Theatre in Westerly, Rhode Island.

The concert, dubbed “A Symphony of Laughter: The Genius of Chaplin, PDQ Bach, Saint-Saëns and more” has been a lot of fun to practice for. The pieces we are performing (some of which will be accompanied by Charlie Chaplin film footage) include Milhaud’s Le Boeuf Sur Le Toit, Saint-Saën’s Carnival of the Animals, Leroy Anderson’s The Typewriter, and PDQ Bach’s Eine Kleine Nichtmusik. This performance with Parlando, taking place on Saturday, August 24th, at 7:30pm promises to be a good one!

This is one of my last performances for the summer season, but stay tuned for some exciting news for performances coming up in the fall!
