Good morning world! I will be performing today at Multimodal Roasting in Long Island City, at 3pm. It promises to be a beautiful and therapeutic afternoon for those who are coming. I will be exploring works by several dear friends and colleagues, and exploring a wide range of sounds and timbres on the viola. Admission is $15, $10 for Students and Seniors, and cash and Venmo are also viable options. Coffee made by Multimodal Roasting will be available for purchase, and I will have a few copies of my album, SHADOWS: The Unaccompanied Viola Sonatas of Günter Raphael available as well.
In light of the changes in our world over the last week, I was considering switching or adding a few pieces to the program. In the end, I have decided to stay the course, as my commitment to performing the works or a diverse group of composers shall not change. Instead, I plan to lean in on using music to continue to support equity, social justice, climate change, empathy, and kindness. I vow to continue to instill the skills of critical thinking, listening, hard work, self care, and patience with the students I get to work with, as these are the tools that will help guide us through the trials and tribulations we may face down the road.
